James Marsden in Hugo Boss Tweeds

Tweed is one must-have fabric for autumn/winter. It's luxe, luscious, slightly coarse woolen material would never be out of style when the chill weather arrives. Probably due to the high heat retention capacity of the fabric towards the body temperature made tweed a favorite among designers to always include 'em in their collection for any autumn/winter. Chanel, for example is famous for its tweed and become much coveted item in the womenswear department. On the men's counterpart, Harris Tweed in the UK has become as famous as the old folklore among the Brits as it is one of the most sourced item from the northern counterpart. Either for the suit and jacket, to the bag and shoes - tweed is a fabric you need in your wardrobe, at least one.

In the current issue of GQ, Hugo Boss has given some of its tweed collection for Autumn/Winter 2011. Modeled by the actor/model James Marsden, the suits look amazing. Very dashing and very mod as the cut and design look contemporary and fresh compared to the typical Boss' collection. From the plain verson, to the tweed checks the collection is definitely for the gents who wanna up their style factor no matter what. The best part, Hugo Boss uses the Pantone colors of Autumn/Winter 2011 such as deep teal green, coffee liqueur and nougat brown that went along well for the trend.

Mentioning tweed, it reminds me of the big freeze that hits London early last year. I wore the awesome tweed jacket from Topman to protect me from the plunging temperature during the time I went lurking around Hyde Park in the ankle-deep snow. [click!

Mag Snaps : The Monk, The Chrono and The Shirt

I once been thrown out from WHSmith in London cos I was caught snapping the picture of the bags in one of the fashion magazine. Esquire, if I'm not mistaken - and those are awesome bags, what not to like?! The security guy saw me flipping the mag and snap, snap, snap using my iPhone... at last he asked me to leave the bookstore coz I'm not allowed to do what I'm doing. Infringement of intellectual properties, I guess. Yet he said, if I bought the magazine instead, that's okay coz it's mine. Not if I pick it free on the shelves, no. Well, I think I've learn a good lesson there... no plagiarism!

Anyway, now that I bought the mags then I'm allowed to scan it and publish it in here. These are some of my picks on the nice things featured in those glossy pages in the recent issues...

RM792 for a pair of grey suede monk strap loafers? Well, Mr. Editor... I think that's quite cheap considering I've bought a £260 Gucci boots at Harrods in Winter 2010 sale before! (go figure the conversion). And RM792 - c'mon, don't you think it's a reasonable price to pay for a beautiful craftsmanship of the shoes?

Calvin Klein's ck Basic chrono watch. I search there in the web, none has ever featured this one. Typing ck Basic, all I can find is the ck underwear... which I got plenty! But Basic chrono - this one looks good. Ok, into my wish list now!

What is so special about this Hugo Boss shirt? The contrast panelling, with pleated placket. Classy dressy without going overboard.

Patent Leather Loafers

Time for shoe talk. This time it's the patent leather loafers. When the summer sale hit London in mid-June this year, I was contempt to get the bow loafers by Gucci. I went to their store - both, at New Bond Street and Sloane Street - to find the shoes; but unfortunately they're nowhere to be seen. I dunno whether Gucci did it just for the 'website only' version (coz they sometimes do have exclusive items for online). I love the way it looks, very sophisticated and chic at the same time. Too late, coz the loafers are no more in stock.

To me patent leather loafers is a great way to spice up the evening wear. Wear it with your tux, and voila... you'll definitely look amazing. But that doesn't mean you can't rock it in the daytime (this is not a vampire shoes, okay). If Gucci is nowhere for me to get, there're still some out there from other designers that did quite similar. Like Calvin Klein 'Gilford', Hugo Boss 'Rino' and Salvatore Ferragamo 'Party' shoes. They all share a common - patent leather body with fabric crossbody strap. Kinda deja vu, perhaps? Yet they all looks awesome.

Or, if you like to go a bit feminine look, the Church Kelly shoes looks quite ravishing with a little bow on the top. Just like Gucci!

MH's Male Supermodels Galore

It's the time of the month again. I've picked up one of my must-haves: the Men's Health magazine. And this month it's a wow. Number one because it's going to some kinda revamp. Making reading much funner. Some pages are given 'quick navigation icons' (whatever that means, nggg...).

Number two - it's male supermodels galore! In the ad campaigns, that is. Never seen so much male top models grace more than 5 pages in MH before. Why? Coz it's September issue!

From Sean O for CK on the earlier pages to Mat Gordon in the Style section. Just brilliant. And talking about brilliant, MH UK is by far the best of all Men's Health mag in the globe! The contents has no competition; not even US version can challenge it. The size itself (it's B5) doesn't take much space in my Hugo Boss bag. Superb! Who the hell wanna carry A4 size these days right??

Sean O for Calvin Klein Jeans

Mat Gordon for Daks

Mat Gordon (again) for Desigual

Lars Burmeister for Boss

Tyson Ballou for H&M

Comparing with MH M'sia.
Look ma.. MHUK shrunk the size!!

Summer Sale Highlight: Getting Redstone'd!.

Be careful of what you wish for, coz you might get it. In my case, that's everything! LOL!! Latest to add to my growing bags collezioni is this Boss Redstone tote in white perforated leather. I've set my eye on this one for a long time. Ever since Boss Black SS'09 collection hit the stores and online, I've been dreaming how cool would it be to get this one.
Thank God, I did! And with a massive price slash online, what not to grab. What i like about it? The design, the look...just tick all the boxes. Very symmetrical, very chic, and the color is just great. Not to mention the smell of the leather...mmmm.. intoxicating, invigorating.

The bag is very practical with two adjustable leather handles and adjustable/removable webbing shoulder strap. There're pockets inside with some slots for card or any portable items. Plus there's one large pocket outside too. The size is very roomy, just enough to fill in my laptop, DSLR cam and other stuffs yadda, yadda, yadda...

Does it really worth waiting? You bet...

The bag came with dust cover.. in black.
