Friday Fur - Balenciaga, 1954

Balenciaga designed this blouson shaped jacket in 1954.  The fur is civet which has an interesting pattern of black and white.  There are dozens of different civet species, some of which are now on the endangered species list.

Friday Fur - Vintage Fox Jacket, 1948

From 1948, Marron Furrier in Paris offered this darling jacket in silver fox fur.  I thought at first that this was a capelet, but it looks like those are true sleeves.  Interesting how the short length allows you to show off your tiny waist!

Friday Fur - Christian Dior, 1953

From Fall/Winter 1953, Christian Dior designed this mink fur jacket from Emba's Lutetia gunmetal gray mink.  Look how Dior wraps the pelts around the sleeves instead of lengthwise from shoulder to cuff.  I love the lines of this little swing jacket.  How about you?

Ermine Fur Jacket - 1963

While you normally think of ermine fur as being white, the ermine's coat actually changes with the seasons.  It is a soft beige with a white belly in summer and pure white in winter.  In 1963, Sarmi designed this summer ermine fur jacket that has a decided casual feel to wear for day or evening.  Big buttons and a herringbone cut to the pelts give this jacket it's sporty look.
