Just Feel the Intensity!

The perfect autumn setting : just picture this. The leaves turn golden brown trickling down from the trees. The sky metamorphose into a dimmer grey facade that making your sight goes dewy. The cool weather with a seductive autumnal breeze whispering your earlobes, trying to romance your attention. And you cuddling up in your best ultra luscious cashmere sweater, with your arms wrapped around your body trying to keep your body warm. Can't you just feel it - the sexy mood of autumn?

I think that's the reason my ultra favorite brands have gone a bit lusty when it comes to the latest version of their perfumes. To suit the sexy mood of autumn. Very dark and mysterious, edgy and sexy ... as if it could unleashed your inner sexual energy with a spritz of the scent. Feel the power. Feel the heat. Unleashed the inner raw prowess in you.

Different Designer, Similar Vibes : Carlos Campos vs. Dior Homme

You think the world of fashion design is really big? Nah, I don't think so. People in that industry may call it fashion universe, but the inhabitants are not that many unfortunately. They might be roaming around like a creepy crawlers but somehow, somewhere, at certain instances some designer might be 'inspired' (the good word for imitate) by other designers too; coz we understand that there could be a brain drain when it comes to producing collections for more than twice a year (if you are lucky!). Hence, by looking at what other people across the continents are doing, there could be a case of 'aha! I wanna do that too!' moment.

One good case of the inspiring-the-inspired is this one by Carlos Campos for Spring/Summer 2012. When I look at the pix with the asymmetric shirt, straight away my photographic memory think of Dior Homme that Kris Van Assche did in Spring/Summer 2011. The difference? The way the 'asymmetric front' and the sleeves are done. One is to the right, the other is to the left (to the left, to the left...sorry Beyonce, I copied your lyrics!). And one with proper short sleeves, another with cropped sleeve ala Master Shaolin. But with the look and all, through my eyes both have quite similar vibes.

Yet, whatever it is the shirts looks pretty cool since I like something that's quite different than any typical one (though I much prefer the Dior Homme coz it looks more high fashion than the other!)

Dior to the Workshop?

Raise your hand, how many of you really wear a Gucci boots to the lab that's filled with splashes of oil and water and the absorbent granules all over the place? Or the Armani Chelsea boots to go to the nearby Tesco just to buy a loaf of bread? Or sometimes the Choo to the laundrette to wash the clothes? Call me crazy, but I'm all of the above. I think that's why some people I met who don't really know what I'm doing in real life would be mistaken that I'm a designer, instead of just a typical Chem Eng graduate student who  once get his hands dirty doing all fluid mechanics-related experiment in an underground bunker. I think it's not really what you do, but who you are as a person that matters. If you really wanna look good - despite whatever your career is - that's what you should do: look 'stylish' and put-together everytime you stepped out of your doorstep. Period. Agree?

So, the day I decided to wear my Dior boots (again!) to compliment my skinny suits prior the previous Raya break was the day I couldn't believe that I'm gonna wear it not just to the office. In the morning I felt ooh, I look quite glam up today! moment... but as soon as I pushed the pedal of my SUV on the road, suddenly I'm feeling there's something wrong with the car (not with the shoes!). The sound of the tyres was just so wrong. It roamed so loud, so noisy that it disturbed the sound of Katy Perry's E.T on the speaker. I dunno what's happening, though I do understand that the car currently have a wheel problem.

What did I do? Bring it to the specialist at the workshop, of course. I told the mechanic that car might have a problem with the bearing system, and he did agree after he took it for a spin himself (pandai jugak aku yer dlm hal2 kereta ni!). And voila... there I am, sitting down in the workshop for a frickin' three hours just to get one tyre to be fixed. In my skinny suits and the Dior boots. With the dirt from the lube oil and all that filled almost the entire floor area (it is floor? more to tanah jer actually!). But whatever lah, as long as my car is fixed , that's all that matter because I need to go home for a long break the day after.

So, Dior to the workshop? Somehow I think I can make such a good editorial spread if some photographer is around (Wahahaha, berangan siot!).

The dream is now a surreality. The Dior Homme iPad case. The smell of the hi-sheen patent leather is so intoxicating...

Gong Yoo for Men's Uno

The Korean actor, Gong Yoo graces the editorial spread in Men's Uno June issue wearing the clothes from Dior Homme. Of all 7+ pages, I picked this two pix which look simple but understatedly splendid. A discreetly chic which speaks classy at the same time. 

I love the first pix which he wore the linen ensemble in neutral tone. The sleeveless draped shirt is like a cross between a typical suit jacket and a shirt. Very edgy with the thin lapels and plunging neckline, and the capped sleeves reminisces a Shaolin attire.

The second pix is quite a signature look by Kris Van Assche for Dior Homme. The sleeveless jacket with raw edge lapels, truly speaks the essence of the designer himself. Try looking down, you will see the unique and quirky take on the typical 'no-no' sandals-wearing ethos : wearing sandals with socks. The only thing is that, this one is not your typical sandals; coz the footwear has a removable cotton 'socks' by which if you wear it both, it'll end up looking like a desert boots. Isn't it brilliant?

J'adore, Dior...

Give me black, white and neutral; then I'm totally gonna love it. Give me a Dior, then I'll definitely gonna j'adore it. Every pieces is just awesome.

Can I have the cape please...? And the draped-waist shirt. And the vest, and the V-neck top... oh, well. Give me everything!

The Best-Designed Sneakers on Planet?

When I flipped through my archive which white shoes can I include into my White Lovin' lookbook, I came across none other than the Dior Homme's SS09 sneakers. No other trainers that can really make me went drooling over and over again. This is the one. The only one. I think last two years ago I've mentioned about this footwear. And I'm not reluctant to mention it again now, coz  I think it is the best sneakers ever done by anyone that I've found out there on planet Earth!

To me, it ticks all the right boxes. It's a high-top. It's has a slimmer form factor. A thinner undersole. The eyelets design is remarkable. The whole shoes looks simple and chic. And it can rock both on the street or in the court, or even just to be worn with a suit to give a casual feel. It's a versatile piece of footwear. And oh, it's a leather.

But, damn! I missed just a couple of minutes to own one. When it went on sale last Summer 2009 at Selfridges, I can say I'm quite disappointed that it went off the rack before I can say Dior Homme! When i went to check it out on the First Floor at the store in Oxford Street, London - everything's gone... !! Gone, gone, gone. Gone in 60 seconds... not minutes. Damn!

The price? Originally it's almost £500. But this is NOT just a sneakers. It's THE sneakers. And it's more than a neo-art without a doubt!

All I'm asking is: I just wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish wish.. Dior Homme could bring back the design to the market! Do it Kris!!!

Dior Homme FW10: May the Force be with You...

If you're a big fan of Star Wars, then you must have realized what the main characters or the people in the Republic wear? The long, overcoat or cloak if you may, which has been a staple ensemble for the like of Obi Wan, Mace Windu or even Anakin Skywalker. I think that's the closest I can say every time I saw the collection by Dior Homme. The long, luscious, flowy overcoat appear previous season - lightweight in spring/summer, now quite heavy material for autumn/winter - looks very much like Star Wars characters.

For FW10, it's not an exception. I always love the overcoat that Dior Homme did coz I think that's the strongest feature from the fashion house. Though the color stay sombre in black and shade of greys, the material is so luxe in wool; some looks very matte, some with a bit of sheen in pinstripe design.

I love the one that looks like they have no buttons on them (or do they?), coz if you belt it with a USB as in the previous SS10, then you'll look very high fashion. (Oh..fyi, USB is the ultra-skinny belt. Click here to read the previous post).

There's also some backpack that looks quite nice at the the show. The squarish, in wool/leather combo on the left look pretty cool...
