Autumn: Love, Hate and Heating Up

Aaaah... autumn. Apart from summer when it's the only chance to for me to wear less and be out there enjoying the sun, autumn is the other season that I love. The leaves turning brown, falling to the ground and the crisp breeze. I think autumn is the most romantic season of all. Agree?

Yet at the same time, come October when autumn really made it's way - I started to get really annoyed. Hate at the same time. While I'm lusting over the browning ambience at the park, I really hate when the temperature started to plummet to lower teens. Why? Coz I'm skinny. Though Kate Moss recently said 'Nothing taste as good as the thin feels...' (which causes an extreme uproar in the media), boy... we skinny people are not that lucky after all. Yeah, we do look good in some clothes - repeat: some clothes only - but when the chill strike, me who literally has almost 0% body fat couldn't cope with the weather. I don't have enough natural insulation, okay. The only thing I did is to start layering my wear - which in the end making me look even bulkier! Yikes..! Its better to layer your clothes rather than wear one chunky knit, coz it's a scientific fact that layers will prolong the loss of heat due to the differences of heat conductivity of the material used. It's a heat transfer kinda thing. (Now I'm giving you my chemical engineering knowledge, lol).

But how to prevent from looking even bulkier when you layer? Find a thin material but an effective one. My best friend right now is the Uniqlo Heattech range. From the short and long-sleeved tees to the long- and half-johns. The work perfectly.

I was first introduced to HeatTech products last autumn when Uniqlo debut the range to the British public at their flagship store in Oxford Street. They're giving away free packs containing one long-sleeved tee and a long-johns with some 'banner' of warm and cold inside. (I got two free packs btw, :D) They even got guys in silver costumes, holding kinda infrared heat detector. Mine probably gave blue - meaning I got less heat in my body coz it loses to the sky! Lol... Btw, the products work wonderful. Don't be fool by the thin material it has, the heat from ur body is really conserved due to the tech behind it. [Read here]. And this time, the range is even better - much more colorful, lots of choices, some with waffle-like fabric which is cool. Plus to celebrate their 25th Anniversary, Uniqlo are offering discounts for the next 25 days (already started last Thursday), and HeatTech is one of them. (But check their website, coz for different day -different discount applied).

So, wanna keep your body heat without looking pudgier? HeatTech it is. Love it.

(Oh btw, now I got Lily Donaldson and Sean O'Pry dancing on the left pane of this blog wearing HeatTech!)
