Ok. Let's cut the chase. Vogue's Fashion Night out last Thurday is indeed lived up the hype. The brainchild of Anna Wintour, the event hit London with all the glitz and glam. Not to mention the glam of loosening the wallet too spending those things which is part limited edition, part discount and ...err.. part just wanna spend. Hehe..
My early night started when I'm rushing to finish off work in the lab. Right when the clock hit 6 pm, I wrapped off everything and there I am - at Oxford Street among all those crazy spendaholics eagerly waiting to have a taste of the global celebration.
6.15 pm. The first venue - H&M Regent St. (Why it's always H&M?Lol!). While carrying my 'luggage' in my Jaspal canvas tote, I walked in and greeted by this guy who give away the 20%-off flyers. But hey, didn't I just had that? In fact in even put it in this blog?? Anyway, what's hot? Apart from the gals snatching hangers of new clothes on the rails, there's not much going on. Where's the DJs you're talking about? Where's the Jimmy Choo competition? Hey... am I in the wrong H&M. I think I am. So, after not wanna spend in the oh-I've-already-had-that clothes, I head away to Carnaby St.
6.40 pm. I'm in Carnaby St. Holla! At least things happening here. I'm making a beeline to the Gap's pop-up store in Kingly Court to get a taste of their "1969" celebration. They're putting up the one-time-only store to celebrate their 40th anniversay. Wow. Did I just love everything they're having. i know I'm not a big fan of Gap denims coz so far I couldn't find any slim-fit jeans. But this time it's different. Love the atmosphere. People are boozing, non-alcoholic cocktails is keep on coming (too bad I'm fasting), people are socializing and oops, what's down there? Oh, they're getting ready for VV Brown's performance. Cool. And wait a minute, what's up there on the mezzanine level? Being curious I made up to where people are gathering and voila... it's the limited edition jeans!! Halleluyah baby. Did I just love the "1969" Gap's (RED) denims. Oh.. another holla! They got slim-fit jeans!! And the price is..err.. £19.69!? I made a quick try-on in their funky denim-clad fitting room. Man, the jeans is fab. Love the color, love the fit, love the price. Not to mention buying the jeans meant that I'm also giving some to the Global Fund to help eliminate AIDS in Africa, what more fashion relief I can say. Did I just mentioned the jeans is just £19.69. Yes, it's down from £40, just for that nite. And boy, am I loving the denim boots? Too bad it's for women though...
7.15 pm. Out of Gap, feeling happy with two limited edition (RED) jeans wrapped in the funky bag, I made my way to Selfridges. It may be miles away, but thank God my Gucci boots is made for walking. :)
In to Selfridges, asking the receptionist where I can buy the Crisis tee. Hopefully buying one I can enter their competition. She said on the 3rd floor. Went there but..hey where is it? I know the floor is kinda new coz they're having the '3rd Central' department dedicated for womenswear, but the Crisis tee is nowhere to be seen. Hmm.. I'm in crisis. I don't have much time left. Feeling let down, I told myself - I'm a celebrity...let me outta here! Lol..
7.40 pm. On to South Molton St. (the Londonpaper typed South Molten St. Molten?? lol) That's where fashionable event happening. I'm outside Browns store seeing a packed bunch of people are having fun inside. Wanna go in but it looks like inside is already like sardines in a can. There're glimpse of Henry Holland, Marios Schwab and Jonathan Saunders, playing hosts to all eager fashionistas. But damn, I forgot to rsvp to them. Sigh... by the way, did I just walk past Pixie Geldof sipping champagne outside the tiny store? She's looking very gothic glam clad in all black. But babe...please do your hair.
Bla, bla, bla... All Saints on the left is full of people. So as Ted Baker. At Office it looks like loads of women's boots so there's no way I'm going in. And oh.. Kurt Geiger. Love the glam look of the window display bearing the big 'Fashion's Night Out' banner. Snap, snap, snap some photos of their outside decor too. Cool...
8.00 pm. The clock is ticking. I'm off to the next stop - New Bond Street. This is supposed to be the highlight of the Vogue's FNO. Luckily I'm not wrong at all. Fashionistas walking by. People carrying I dunno whether goodie bags or stuff they just bought in the designer shopping bags. The window displays are pimped up to the max just for the night. I walked past Louis Vuitton, when I spotted the real life model strutting her stuff looking glam in orange frock. Just fab...
Then suddenly while making myself out to the end of the road, I spotted a gala happening at Burberry. Oh, they're having a 'red carpet' event hosted by Chris Bailey. But ehem... it's only for invited guest. Otherwise I'll be brushing shoulders with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Daisy Lowe. Try to get a snap, damn.. my digicam run out of battery. Oh well...
About to get into Gucci. Hey, why there's no hype in here? Am I in the right Gucci or is the event happenned at Sloane St? Hmmm.... anyway. My tummy is growling like hell. I need food. I'm out, out, outta here! While truly almost the end of the street, I walked past YSL which is having gorgeous window display, Alexander McQueen having a reception inside the store, so as Max Mara and some stores which I can't catch the name but have loads of people inside. Fashionistas (READ: fashionista = style like heaven, face like hell!) are sipping cocktails, munching canapes and smoking outside the stores...en vogue.
Finally, I reached Piccadilly Circus after the gruelling walk. Grabbed some cheese twist at Tesco and the new GQ mag with Lily Allen on the cover. I'm about to head home before thinking, should I go to Reiss and get those bag that I'm lusting for? Mmmm... maybe not. I don't really use it everyday, so it's not worth buying. This time, at least. Hehe..
With just GAP limited edition jeans, sore feet and aching shoulder, I took Victoria line home. Eventhough haven't got time to watch Little Boots performed at Marks and Spencer, watch the fashion shows at Debenhams and getting some goodie bags at some stores, but I'm delighted. I'm happy to be part of the event. A tiny part. Hopefully next time Vogue would do it again....
