It's one of the trend this season. Along with the lightweight material for the tops, the dip dye and gradual-color look is hot for summer. Well, for us in the tropics this kinda stuff is seen splashed on the beachwear like the pants, pareo, shorts, tunic etc. Esp when u go to the island or beachside shopping like Pangkor, Langkawi for example. There we normally call it the tie dye or ikat look. It pretty much easy to make it your own coz you just dip one end of the shirt or whatever clothing you wanna do, then the dye gonna gradually seep through upwards creating the gradual look. Brilliant isn' it? Just like the chromatograph set for the chemist of you. But word of caution, doing it wrong you'll get more patches look rather than gradual.
So to prevent any of the mishaps, River Island is offering some of the dip dye jumpers and shirts. Looking just amazing. The pink and yellow jumpers, as well as the orange dip dye shirt. Previously in their winter collection they did the dip dye cardi in grey, which I snapped fast during sale (it's £12, down from £30!). Price? Below £30. It's highstreet price btw.
Does any designers do dip dye knitwears for SS09? Burberry does. Like the one I read in Shortlist previously.
