Fashion House Gone Apps!

Wow. Now all the fashion houses seems to jump into bringing their versions of Apple apps. After previous Gucci special edition for iPhone/iPod Touch, not only designers has gone techno these days, even the big stores that stock designer labels also not gonna be left behind to offer new free apps for the shopaholics out there.

After weeks, I can finally have my say about all those apps that I've installed in my 'Touch. Finding a right free wifi point (without having to pay, of course) is really a pain in the neck. The only places that I can get is either Icco @ Goodge St, Subway @ Edgware Rd and Westfield. At normal cafes like Starbucks and Nero, well... you've gotta pay for it. :(

Anyway. First up is D&G. Pretty cool when I am welcomed by the shadowy D&G emblem. And it load quite fast, which lead to the main screen with only 3 options - Lifestyle, World, Store.

Click Lifestyle, then more options like News, Fashion Shows and Wallpapers. For News, I need a wifi, coz of course they updated it via the cloud out there. But for Fashion Shows and Wallpapers, it's all installed in the hard drive of the Touch. Pretty neat. I can view a short version of the show for current season. And the wallpapers, it got these ad campaigns pix for FW09. So, if you're Brit and wanna support your homeboy Danny Schwartz, there's an app for that!

Bla, bla, bla... the News looks like the pix below. It helps if you install it in iPhone coz you probably got latest news popping up in the app.

On the World tab, it's mainly full of photos. And best thing they're offline. No need for wifi coz it's all in the Touch's brain. What's in there? FW09 collection like the catwalk photos, the current pieces to buy, accessories for men and women, timewear and jewellery pictures, as well as eyewear. Great if you wanna daydreaming while stuck in the Tube. ;)

How many stars should I give? 8/10. Simply becoz most of the pics are offline which is a huge help. But the News and stuff, I do need wifi.

Second up. Hugo Boss. Tap on the app, then a simple and chic 'Hugo Boss' appears. But, damn it took a while before the main screen shows up. What a bloddy waste of time.

Main screen - plain boring and nothing much. You got these boxes with 'Boss Black', 'Boss Orange' and 'Hugo' which leads you to the so-called lookbooks.

Scroll left or right, and choose any look then an image with the full ensemble will appear. And tap onto those little bullet, then you'll get a description on the pieces.

I tap on the shoes (ehem..), and this thing appear. You can either 'Add To My Wishlist' or, provided you get a connection, you can even send it to your friend. For what? You figure it out yourself. Ahaks! :)

How many stars should I give? 4/10. Great effort but plain boring! Sorry, Hugo. (Btw, to make it up... I'll go to your store instead for the Sale, hehe)

Last but not least, is not a fashion house. Rather a house that stocks fashion stuff. Yoox. For fashion lovers, Yoox.com is a must visit coz they got loads of designer stuff at quite reasonable pieces. If you're lucky, you can get very cheap prices too. And pieces from previous season as well.

Btw, about the app. I totally need a wifi coz these thing is fully streamed via wireless connection. And coz it's also a shopping site, so that is very important to add security when clicking your credit card online too.

So, the welcome screen looks brilliant. Their signature 'Y' thing as if giving a 'peace' sign, with square boxes making a circle wrapping around it.

Then comes the main screen. Hoho.. what else could you expect right? It's time to shop, baby! Similar to their site, you get options for Men, Women etc...etc..

I tapped on the Men's Department, and another tap to 'Shoes' (ehem...), and voila!! Shoe galore!! Never been excited in my life to see those much shoes on one page in my Touch. Fantastico! What I like about Yoox is how the layout so pretty simple and user-friendly like D&G, but never plain boring like Hugo. (Guess the Italians always do it better, huh?)

And if you decide to buy any of the item, just click 'em and add to your cart. Easy peasy. But to be honest, I ain't quite so sure about the security using a free wifi to purchase stuff. Coz should it be uncrypted then some irresponsible parties out there will definitely stole my card's info. That'll be a massive yikes! Probably Yoox wanna comment on this matter.

Btw, how many stars should I give? 6/10. Just becoz they're totally being wifi-reliable. But I have no complain coz you need that for a shopping site. But judging for just the layout, I'll totally give it a 9/10. Great photos, great layout and very user-friendly. Kudos to them. :)

The other that I've just installed is Zara. But being totally wifi-reliable, I will review this app later. I heard it's amazing too.

So, now when you need something on the fashion houses; hey... there's an app for that.

And oh. Just for the sake of vanity, one thing I can't forget whenever I got free wifi connection is to browse my own blog. Ahaks! :D
